The World’s Largest CCUS Project Constructed by CEEC is at Erection Stage

On 28 July, steel structures for the absorption tower of Huaneng Longdong Energy Base Megaton CCUS Research and Model Project contracted and constructed by China Energy Construction Group Co., Ltd.(CECG) starts to be erected, marking the stage of erection and installation of the CCUS Project commences.

The absorption toweris square in shape and its weight is approximately 1194 tons, and steel structures for which are in a 4-row and 5-array structure. The absorption tower is 10.75m in height and 5.134 tons in weight. The pile column is made of 800mm structural steel. After washing, CO2 in flue gas will be captured for following processes.

The project is located at Huaneng Longdong Energy Base in Qingyang, Gansu. Relying on the construction of Zhengning 2*1000 MW Peak-regulatingCoal-firedPowerPlant Project at the base, this CCUS project adopts the post-combustion chemisorption capture of CO2, and the CO2 of 1.5 million tons have been captured annually. The capture rate is more than 90%, and the purity of CO2 is larger than 99.5%. After completion, this CCUS project will be the coal-fired power CO2 capture project with the world’s largest scale and lowest energy consumption, which promotes peak carbon dioxide emissionsand carbon neutrality, and helps to build a quality and low emission modernized industrial system. Great efforts have been made by CEEC for the development of CCUS of our motherland by virtues of this project.
